Sons of
Confederate Veterans Mechanized Cavalry Camp #2134
"To you, Sons of
Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the
cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the
defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship
of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation
of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and
those ideals which made him glorious and which you also
cherish."
Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee,
Commander General,
United Confederate Veterans,
New Orleans, Louisiana, April 25, 1906.
Welcome to
MECHANIZED CAVALRY CAMP # 2134
Sons of Confederate Veterans
We have the
distinction of being the first Mechanized Cavalry Camp in
the Confederation.
Let it be known
that MECHANIZED CAVALRY CAMP # 2134 is an official Sons
of Confederate Veterans Camp. We were presented our
Charter by Division Commander Clarence Woods at our Camp
Headquarters in Saint Leonard, Maryland on November 10,
2007, duly signed by Commander-in-Chief Sullivan of SCV
International Headquarters on October 1, 2007.
While our Camp is
officially headquartered in Calvert County Maryland, we more
often than not, follow the traditions of our Cavalry ancestors
and meet in the saddle.
Almost all of our
members are mounted cavalrymen (although our
horses are of steel rather than flesh) however we do
welcome dismounted applicants who can verify
Confederate ancestry. We have held meetings as far
away as West Virginia and Pennsylvania. This allows
members from all over to participate. In fact you may
see members flying their colors and spreading the TRUE
HISTORY of Southern Heritage and FREEDOM anywhere in the
world as we have friends, allies and fellow SCV members in
many foreign lands not to forget those in active military
service to our country.
Mechanized Cavalry Camp
# 2134 is a heritage organization, not a hate group or
motorcycle club. We ride in honor of our forefathers, for
their bravery and the sacrifices they made for our future and
families.
The SCV has established a Friend of the SCV
status for those who are interested in joining the SCV
but haven't been able to prove Confederate ancestry.
Those members within the Mechanized Cavalry Camp # 2134 who carry
the status of Friends of the SCV are known in our
camp, affectionately, as COPPERHEADS in the
honor and tradition of those sympathizers who supported
the CSA during the War of Northern Aggression. Copperheads
carry this status until they can prove their Confederate
ancestry and join as full SCV members.
The Mechanized Cavalry
Camp # 2134 has a genealogist who will help in the search
of an ancestor for any COPPERHEAD or prospective
member.
If interested in joining our Camp, or for assistance in
researching Confederate ancestry, contact any of the
officers listed on this site.
